Ben aspires to build creativity by using natural materials to craft sustainable and inspiring designs that harmonize with the environment.

Ben began his natural building journey in 2014, constructing a straw-clay timber frame home in Nelson, B.C., while living in his van for eight months. He later joined a natural building internship with Community Rebuilds in Moab, Utah, building energy-efficient, strawbale homes for low-income families.

After balancing part-time teaching with building projects, Ben decided to pursue full-time building, co-founding Cost Pro Deconstruction with Tim Vigneaux to reclaim building materials for reuse. Since then, he has worked on diverse projects, including laneway homes, saunas, decks, and renovations, blending natural building with sustainability.

Having spent nearly a decade working as an RN in several interesting fields, Tim was ready for a career shift. Excited by the prospect of natural building techniques and the reuse of materials from deconstruction projects, it was an easy decision to join his friend Ben at Natural Focus Contracting. Tim is focused on building his skillset in all aspects of material reclamation and new construction, and welcomes creative project ideas in all shapes and sizes.
